History of Williston Saddlery 

October 1979 

In October of 1979 Bill and Karen Novak bought Williston Saddlery from Clarence Moe. The storefront wasn't included in the purchase so Bill and Karen had to run the store out of their home for a year.

September 1980 

The building you now think of when you think of Williston Saddlery was assembled in the fall of 1980. This is the summer that Mount St. Hellens erupted and Bill and Karen still remember ashes falling on the concrete when they were pouring it.

In the summer of 1981 Bill and Karen were approached about selling Purina feed and that winter they received their first load of feed.

Spring 1983

Williston Saddlery became an official dealer for Keifer trailers. Bill and Karen wanted to shape their store around the tack and feed store they worked for in college, the owner of that store got them into selling trailers.

April 1986

Williston Saddlery received a trip to Hawaii for being top ten in the nation for selling preconditioning receiving cow for weaned calves, thanks to sales representative Earl Sheppard.

May 1990

Now our feed room, in the spring of 1990 Bill and Karen added on to the original store.

August 1992

Karen received a plaque for being a Purina Certified Pet Advisor. Over the years Bill and Karen have received many awards and certificates including wildlife certification, Ultium Performance certification, and 40 year Purina dealer award.

April 1997

Williston Saddlery hosted a equine gold seminar with Bill Chackelford. Over the last 45 years Bill and Karen have prioritized spreading knowledge by hosting a variety of seminars for cattle and horse owners.

Summer 1998

Williston Saddlery took a group of people to a tour of the Purina Animal Nutrition Center. Bill and Karen still to this day are prioritizing continued education.

August 2003

During the summers of the early 2000's Williston Saddlery helped Purina conduct research on how Purina fly control mineral effects cattle.

Fall 2019

Bill and Kare celebrated 40 years with Williston Saddlery. The local paper was the ones to recognize the accomplishments and did a wonderful write up on their story.

Today

Today Bill and Kare have been proud owners of Williston Saddlery for the past 46 years and continue to show up to work every day with a smile on their face.
